Johnstown Country Club

40th Anniversary reunion of CICo Besseme

40th Anniversary reunion of CICO Bessemer Dept.. of 1871 (anniversary of the first blow)

With the encouragement of the Cambria Steel Corporation, the Johnstown Country Club was founded in Southmont in 1903. The site was the Cambria Iron farm near Grandview Cemetery. Cambria officials and their wives ran the club.

The country club featured a 9-hole golf course and tennis courts.

In 1910, a clubhouse designed by Henry Rogers replaced the farmhouse first used. In 1921, the Sunnehanna Country Club was organized as Cambria's new private club and golf course. The Southmont building became the Bethlehem Management Club, and was used by Bethlehem Steel employees until the 1990s.
